Amazon Prime Video has introduced a new Amazon Prime Store in India allowing both members and non-subscribers to rent new regional and worldwide movies on the platform, citing the popularity of OTT services and the rising number of subscribers in India. Amazon’s transaction-video-on-demand (TVoD) service enables Indian over-the-top (OTT) viewers to rent new movies, ranging from international releases to regional ones in Tamil and Telegu, for a constrained period of time, similarly to Google’s rental option on YouTube. Learn how to rent movies from Amazon Prime Video in India by reading on.

Amazon Prime Video Launches Movie Rental Service in India

At a recent event in Mumbai, Amazon Prime Video announced its new TVoD offering through the Prime Video Store as well as its intentions to release 40 new titles in India over the next two years.

A new Prime Video Store on the platform is necessary for the platform’s new TVoD offering. On the official website, both Prime Video subscribers and non-subscribers can view it. Users can borrow brand-new films from this collection for a brief period of time, including The Batman, which stars Robert Pattinson, Spiderman: No Way Home, the newest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and others.

Depending on the film, the cost ranges from Rs 69 to Rs 499. A title that has been rented out by a user is accessible on Amazon Prime Video for 30 days after that. Viewers will have 48 hours to finish a rented movie if they begin it on the app.

How to Rent Movies on Amazon Prime Video

Now, if you’re curious about how to rent movies from the Prime Video Store, look no further since we’ve provided you with a step-by-step tutorial here. However, it is important to note that the Prime Video TVoD service is accessible on both the web and mobile devices. Now that we have that out of the way, shall we begin the steps?

    • Open the official Prime Video website using a browser on your laptop or desktop.
    • Go to the new Store tab from the above navigation bar.
    • Choose the movie you want to rent from the different categories in the Store.
    • Click on the movie you select and then click the new Rent button on the movie detail page.

After submitting your rent request, you will be requested to login in to your Amazon account.

    • Choose the payment method to pay the rent, and voila! You now have a new movie to watch. The streaming platform only supports credit and debit card payments at the moment. There is no Amazon Pay, UPI, or other digital payment option.

In this way, if you don’t start watching them right once, you can rent numerous movies at once and retain them for up to 30 days. Additionally, to make it simple for consumers to find the movies they wish to watch, Amazon has categorised the rent-eligible films in its Store.

In line with our goal of being a hub for entertainment, we have reinvented how we present movies, delivering them to users’ living rooms and preferred devices through direct-to-service premieres and films in a post-theatrical early-window. Gaurav Gandhi, the Country Head of Amazon Prime Video India, said in a statement that the introduction of the TVoD movie rental service will not only increase the audience for these movies but also provide customers more options for how they want to access and view content.

In addition to announcing a TVoD service, Amazon India said it will double its investment in the country in order to deliver new titles to customers. These will include masala Bollywood fare as well as true-crime and investigative docudramas.

Please share your opinions regarding the planned content for the platform in the comment section below if you are a subscriber to Prime Video. Check out our favourite choices for Prime Original movies right here as well.
