Fake News: No, WhatsApp Is Not Getting a Third Blue Tick to Detect Screenshots

There have been reports about WhatsApp that claim the messaging service will include a third blue tick to let users know whether a screenshot of the chat has been taken. The news is phoney, that much is true. Here are some specifics.

WhatsApp is Not Getting a Third Blue Tick

Recently, many users started speculating about the third blue tick on WhatsApp. However, WABetaInfo (via a tweet), who is known for leaking WhatsApp-related details, confirmed that this rumor is fake, after all.

Users could have known whether someone had taken a snapshot of the discussion or any posted, vanishing media with the third tick. It was anticipated to be a supplement to the current two-tick method. If you regularly use WhatsApp, you are aware that when you send someone a message, your message bubble will display a small grey tick.

Another comparable tickmark is placed next to the current one when the recipient receives the message. The double-ticks on your message turn blue when the receiver eventually opens the chat and reads it. There is currently no triple-tick functionality, and WhatsApp has no immediate plans to develop one.

For those who are unaware, Snapchat and Instagram’s DM Vanish modes allow users to determine whether a screenshot has been taken. It is known that WhatsApp is not creating a feature of that nature, despite the fact that it is one of many functions that are currently absent from the app.

The option to search for nearby companies, a new Contact Info tab, and a tonne more are all anticipated additions to WhatsApp, according to a recent report. Do you want to be able to see whether someone has screenshotted your WhatsApp status or chat? Post a comment and let us know.
