Google Doodles frequently honour well-known individuals, but occasionally Google draws inspiration from a hilarious pop culture element that truly takes the cake. Do you still play the Where’s Waldo April Fools game and the hidden T-Rex game? Google has resumed its campaign, and this time it’s honouring garden gnomes.

The new doodle-based game commemorates Garden Day in Germany and does it with a fun game to spend time in addition to a brief history lesson on the fascinating past of the pointy-hatted animals. Watch out: Playing this game will quickly take up most of your day. if you aren’t watchful. The brand-new Google Doodles Gnomes game is available here.

The basic objective of the game is to plant as many flowers as you can in your virtual garden, and to do this, your vibrant garden gnome pot needs to move as far as it can. The setup is really easy: Try to travel as far as you can by firing the clay gnome from a catapult into the air. Your garden is seemingly limitless, and the gnome is covered with flowers on every square inch. Simply press the spacebar once to swing the catapult, then once more to fire the gnome pot.

However, here’s the catch. The gnome pot will fall backward if you quickly press the spacebar several times, which will result in a loss of points. If you push the spacebar too late, the gnome will fall directly in front of the catapult. The gnome can travel far if the timing is right. Once your gnome takes to the air, look out for ground-level items like colourful mushrooms and logs of wood. To land on one of these items while you are above it, simply hit the spacebar. The mushrooms serve as trampolines, while the wood log serves as a cannon to fire your gnome even farther.

There are six different gnomes available for you to pick from, and each one has a distinctive quality. So go ahead, plant some flowers, and let us know how you did.
