With 1.5 billion monthly active users, WhatsApp already provides a tonne of functionality, but the ability to interact with brands and businesses has opened up new opportunities for the messaging giant.
You may check the PNR status of purchased tickets and the live running status of trains using a straightforward text message thanks to a service provided by Indian Railways in collaboration with popular online ticketing provider MakeMyTrip. By doing this, users may monitor their ticket status without having to log in to the IRCTC website and navigate several menus.
You must first save MakeMyTrip’s official number 7349389104 on your device in order to use this service. Now, all you need to know are a few text commands to get information about train schedules and booking status, which are as follows:
Check PNR Status
You must send a message to MakeMyTrip’s WhatsApp contact with the text PNR status for PNR number> in order to verify the status of your IRCTC ticket booking.
At all times, the response will give the train’s number, name, source, and destination stations. When your seats have been assigned, the status will indicate that your tickets are confirmed; otherwise, you will see the updated waiting numbers for the same event.
Live Train Status Updates
Send a message to the number that reads, Live Train Status of train number> to verify the current status of your train.
If the train has already left the station, the response will state if it is on schedule or not, when it last left a stop, and how long it will take to get to the destination. If not, a message stating that the train has not left the source station will appear along with the anticipated departure time.
MakeMyTrip also says that this chat will include information about your reservations. It will notify you of vouchers, refunds and cancellations, the status of your flight’s web check-in, and other things.
Although this is unquestionably a useful feature, one can only anticipate a flood of similar services in the coming weeks. I say this because WhatsApp recently introduced the WhatsApp Business API, which will enable marketers to communicate with customers in real-time and incorporate it into their apps.
Goibibo, the sibling company of MakeMyTrip, has already begun preparing to incorporate WhatsApp into its offerings. Now, users may log into their accounts using WhatsApp while using their mobile website, which is a handy option for people who frequently forget their passwords. This demonstrates that other well-known services should follow suit and offer comparable experiences through the messaging app.
