Instagram first introduced the last seen feature to its platform in January 2018. All of your followers (and anyone who messages you) may find out when you were last active thanks to a feature called Activity Status. You are free to see when the last time someone used this function. It has been included in the area of the app where you may message your followers directly. This privacy-invading function is only a rebranded version of ones we’ve already seen on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. The firm went a step further in a recent Instagram update and included a special section at the top that lists all of your active Instagram followers. However, there’s no need to freak out because you can simply turn off the feature to keep others and yourself from knowing when someone last used Instagram. The procedures to disabling Instagram’s activity status are listed below.
Disable Activity Status on Instagram (2022)
1. To get you acquainted with the Activity Status feature, below is an example of what the last active tab and tag under the usernames of individuals you’ve recently messaged would look like:
2. Open your Instagram profile, touch the hamburger menu (horizontal three-line icon) in the top-right corner, and select Settings to turn off the activity status.
3. To modify the activity status of your Instagram account, navigate to the Privacy section of the Settings page after it loads. Then, touch on Activity Status.
4. At this point, disable Show Activity Status, and you’re done. Your availability status will no longer be visible to other Instagram users. Keep in mind that if you disable the activity status, you won’t be able to see the last-seen status of the people you text.
5. As you can see in the image below, after the activity status was disabled, the online now bar at the top disappeared. The active minutes/hours> ago tag won’t be seen either.
Remove Instagram DM s Online Status Section
You may keep your business private by turning off Instagram’s Activity Status function. Your privacy will be restored, and all of your nosy friends and relatives will be kept at bay. While the speedy post sharing and newly added Instagram polls are helpful, we believe the addition of a section to reveal your online status was superfluous. How do you feel about this update? Do you believe it will be useful or is it simply preferable to disable it? Please share your thoughts in the section below.
