Apple has an auto-lock feature that locks your iPhone after a certain amount of time to conserve battery life and improve security. Therefore, your iPhone locks itself if you fail to lock it. This is an advantageous feature because it shields your iPhone from inquisitive eyes. However, some users may find the 30 second default auto-lock time limit to be a bother. The unlocking procedure has grown easier since the introduction of biometric authentication such as Touch ID and Face ID. However, every time you want to use your phone, you have to unlock it. Apple thankfully provides a setting to alter the auto lock time and even turn it off entirely. However, some users claim that the setting is now greyed out. So let’s look at a solution to the iPhone 11 Pro’s auto lock problem.

Fix Auto Lock Grayed Out Issue on iPhone 11 Pro

Every iPhone can be fixed using the same procedures. Therefore, these instructions will work for you whether you are using the most recent iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, or previous iPhones like the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and so on. The procedures are also the same for earlier versions of iOS, including iOS 12, even if we are using an iPhone running iOS 13.

Speaking of the cause of this problem, iOS turns off the auto-lock feature while an iPhone is in low-power mode. It is done to save your iPhone’s battery life. So your phone doesn’t stay on and drain the battery when you’re not using it. Therefore, we will first turn off low-power mode before turning on auto-lock. Let’s move on to the steps now that that is over.

    1. Click on Battery in Settings after opening it.

    2. Tap on Low Power Mode here and turn it off.

    3. Click on Display & Brightness on the main Settings screen to continue.

    4. You’ll notice that auto-lock is now operational. Set a time limit or entirely turn it off by tapping on it.

    Auto-Lock Grayed-out When iPhone s Not on Low-Power Mode?

Everyone’s problem will be resolved by the aforementioned measures. Even when their iPhone is not in low battery mode, some users have complained that their auto-lock feature is disabled or greyed out. If that applies to you, you will need to use approaches that have been successfully used to fix odd problems on iOS devices. Take a backup of your data before attempting any of these actions to ensure that you don’t lose it.

    1. Force Restart Your iPhone

Force restarting your iPhone is the first thing you ought to try. The majority of the time, a good hard restart will fix many iOS issues you may be having. For an iPhone with the Home Button and one without, there are several procedures to force restart the device. So adhere to the guidelines below.

The volume up and down buttons must be pressed and then released on an iPhone without a home button. When the Apple logo finally appears on the screen, hold down the side button for roughly 10 seconds.

Holding down the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously for around 10 seconds will cause your iPhone with a Home button to restart.

    2. Reset Your iPhone Settings

Try resetting the settings on your iPhone if the aforementioned methods didn’t help. Go to Settings -> General -> Reset and select the Reset All Settings option to accomplish this. Keep in mind that after completing this step, all settings will revert to default. As a result, any modifications you made to your settings app will be erased.

    3. Update iPhone

Sometimes a bad iOS upgrade can cause an issue. Therefore, you should always upgrade your iOS device. Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to check if an update is due or not, and update your device if necessary.

These steps ought to help you address the problem.

Solve Auto-Lock Grayed Out Issue on iPhone

These were the methods to fix the iPhone’s disabled auto-lock problem. Keep in mind that 90% of users have the low power mode set on, which is the cause of the issue. If you belong to the 10% group, you must experiment with the three approaches described above to see which one resolves your issue. Please let us know in the comments section below whether or not the problem was addressed for you.
