Unquestionably, one of the most played games worldwide is Minecraft. After its introduction, the game Minecraft gave rise to a brand-new gaming category known as sandbox games, where players could alter or completely destroy their surroundings. You may play a variety of sandbox games today, including Minecraft. For those who are unaware, Minecraft can be found on a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and the top consoles. The game has not, even after several years, been created on Google’s Chrome OS. However, there is no need for concern because Chrome OS now supports Linux and Android. Therefore, installing and using Minecraft on a Chromebook shouldn’t be too difficult. Let’s look out the procedures for installing Minecraft on a Chromebook now.

Install and Play Minecraft on Chromebook (Updated June 2022)

There are a few things I want to make clear before we start.

Without installing Crouton and turning on Developer Mode on ChromeOS, you can run Minecraft on a Chromebook. Additionally, it is available for use on the Stable channel. The only thing to bear in mind is that your Chromebook must support Linux or Android.

    • Install Minecraft: Java Edition on Chromebook (Linux Support Required)
    • Play Classic Minecraft on School-issued Chromebooks

Install Minecraft Education Edition on Chromebook (Play Store Required)

Unless your administrator has enabled Linux support for your computer, you will not be able to run the most recent Java edition of Minecraft on school-issued Chromebooks. Remember that Google introduced the option to utilise Linux software even on school Chromebooks in 2019, but once again, it all relies on your school administration. Having said that, you can play the Classic Minecraft game on the browser if you use a Chromebook that was provided by your school. It may be used on any Chromebook and doesn’t need administrator permission. Expand the table below, then navigate to the appropriate section for your needs.

For Chromebook users, Minecraft has released an Education Edition to foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Students who wish to play Minecraft on their Chromebooks are the game’s target audience. However, the game is offered as an Android app on the Play Store, so you will still need to speak with your school administrator to have Google Play enabled on their end. Now that that has been said, let’s start.

Open the Settings page and enable Google Play Store first. You can use the Play Store and download Android apps on your Chromebook thanks to this.

    2. Launch the Play Store, perform a search for Minecraft: Education Edition (Free), and then download the application. There it is.

Install Minecraft: Java Edition on Chromebook (Linux Support Required)

    3. Remember that students are entitled to 10 free logins. After that, you will need to use this link to purchase a subscription. Additionally, in order to access Minecraft, you must check in using your school account.

Using this method, you can currently instal and use the most recent Minecraft 1.19 update on your Chromebook. I tried out Minecraft 1.19 on my Chromebook with an Intel processor, and it ran well. To instal and play the Minecraft 1.19 update, your Chromebook must support Linux.

    1. Before continuing, confirm that Linux is installed on your Chromebook. To expand the menu, enter Settings and click on Advanced in the left pane. Click on Developers after that. Contact your school’s administration if you have a Chromebook that was provided to you by the school and the Developers menu is not present.

    2. After navigating to the Developers menu, select Turn on next to the Linux development environment (Beta) section.

    3. Launch the Linux Terminal after Linux has been installed. To do that, open it by typing “terminal” into the search box on the keyboard. You can also search for Linux software in the App Drawer. You can locate Terminal there.

    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y

    4. Execute the command below now. The most recent build of Linux will be updated using this.

    5. Download the Minecraft.deb file (Debian/Ubuntu) from the official website after updating the Linux build. After that, move the file to the Files app’s Linux files section.

    6. Next, double-click the downloaded file and select Install. Your Chromebook will get Minecraft installed in a short while.

    7. Click the Search key on the keyboard and type “Minecraft” to start playing. Open the Minecraft Launcher at last. Additionally, the App Drawer and openMinecraft Launcher also provide access to Linux software.

    8. Next, sign in using your Microsoft or Mojang account.

    9. After that, click Play Demo at the bottom, and the most recent version and update will begin downloading and installing automatically. After installation, the app will automatically close and reopen. Open the Minecraft Launcher manually from the App Drawer if that does not work.

    10. At last, Minecraft will launch on your Chromebook and be available for use. Simply select “Play Demo World” to begin playing.

    11. WASD key controls work well for the game, and mouse sensitivity is also good. Instead, go to Options -> Mouse Settings and alter the sensitivity to Hyperspeed if you wish to tweak the sensitivity. Now, playing Minecraft on a Chromebook is jitter-free and fluid.

    12. In addition, if you wish to lock the mouse pointer when playing Minecraft on a Chromebook, make sure to enable the flag below. Simply copy and paste it into Chrome’s address box, then press Enter. Restart your Chromebook after selecting it from the drop-down option to enable it.

    sudo apt-get install default-jdk -y

Play Classic Minecraft on School-issued Chromebooks

    13. Open the Terminal app from the App Drawer if you have any installation errors. Run the Linux command shown below to instal the Java Development Kit after that. Finally, use the Files app to instal Minecraft.deb properly.

Any browser can be used to play the Classic version of Minecraft that Mojang Studios has made available online. That implies that you can use Chromebooks provided by your school to play Minecraft. You will only have 32 blocks to work with when building, and the UI is incredibly dated. It will undoubtedly bring up memories of the 2009 Minecraft user interface. The game can be played without experiencing significant lag, and the best thing is that WASD controls function in the browser. You can invite up to 9 players to the multiplayer option as well. In light of the foregoing, here is how to play Minecraft Classic on a Chromebook.

    (1) Openclassic.minecraft.net

Play Minecraft on Chrome OS Without a Hitch

enter in the Chrome browser. As you can see, you have the option of starting the game alone or with buddies to play in multiplayer mode.
