The live location function of WhatsApp, which enables users to share their location with contacts on a live timeline, was just released a few days ago. This means that until you turn it off, the person with whom you shared your live location will be able to follow you. For many different reasons, this feature is incredibly useful. First of all, it’s an excellent tool for gatherings in public spaces. They can communicate their current whereabouts in real time, assuring that they will meet at the same place and time. Additionally, and maybe more crucially, it is a very good security element for anyone visiting uncharted territory. Knowing that someone you can trust can locate you is always a good thing. So let’s explore how to use the WhatsApp live location feature if the feature has even slightly peaked your interest:
The upgrade is being released in phases. If you haven’t already, you will get it in the next several days. However, you may sign up for WhatsApp’s beta programme by going here if you want to test it out right away.
Share Live Location on WhatsApp in Android or iPhone
The capability is integrated into the same field where, in the past, you could share your fixed position with others. Simply follow the instructions to find out how to share your live location data if you didn’t know how to do it.
1. Start WhatsApp and enter the person’s conversation window if you wish to share your location with them. Now click the icon for attachments that is indicated in the image below.
2. Click Location here. You can share your current location or your live location on this website, as you can see. We don’t want someone to be able to follow where you are right now if you publish your present location. Tap where it says, “Share live location,” as we want to share our current position.
3. A pop-card describing the feature will now appear; tap it to find out more. However, because I’ve already clarified it, simply tap Continue. You can specify the duration of the other person’s ability to track your whereabouts here. Three options are presented to you (15 minutes, 1 hour, and 8 hours). After choosing the time and adding any optional comments, click Send.
4. What if I want to share my location data for longer than an hour but less than eight hours? You might be wondering. In such scenario, please provide your location for the first eight hours. Simply open the chat window for the person with whom you have shared your current location and touch on Stop sharing when you wish to stop sharing your data (say, after three hours). By doing this, WhatsApp won’t share your current location.
As you can see, it’s really simple to share your location information live with WhatsApp. One thing I should mention is that if you don’t use WhatsApp for some reason, you may still use this feature by using Google Maps. Simply open Google Maps and select the hamburger option. You can use any message or email service to communicate your current location there. The Google Maps application will open and track you when the other party clicks or taps on the link.

Share Your Live Location Data Using WhatsApp
This function, in my opinion, is a fantastic addition to WhatsApp. It’s excellent that we can now simply share our live location data with people without having to download a separate third-party app, especially since the majority of the people we know use WhatsApp. Users are now worried that WhatsApp might start following you continually without your consent as a result of this, though. Although there is no evidence to support it, I believe it to be a valid worry. Given that OnePlus was recently exposed for hoarding customer data, the situation is not altogether unbelievable. I’d certainly be interested in hearing your opinions on the matter. Please share your thoughts on this feature in the section below.
