The Mi Band 4, which debuted roughly a year ago, has been replaced by the Mi Band 5, which just arrived today. It keeps the same style as its predecessor while adding a tonne of innovative features to make the product worthwhile of an upgrade. The Mi Band 5 now features a larger display, new sport modes, magnetic charging, and many other improvements from Xiaomi.

So, you’ve come to the correct place if you’re looking for information on how the Mi Band 5 varies from the Mi Band 4. To find out about all of the improvements the Mi Band 5 makes over its predecessor, keep reading.

Mi Band 5 vs Mi Band 4: What s Different?

    • Bigger Display

The Mi Band is a small and reasonably priced fitness tracker, but with its most recent version, Xiaomi is adding extra screen space. Mi band 5 has a 20 percent larger colour AMOLED touch screen than its predecessor, measuring 1.1 inches. It’s only a slight boost, but it allows Xiaomi to show a little bit more content on the screen.

Additionally, Xiaomi is releasing more than 100 new watch faces for the Mi Band 5, many of which are inspired by well-known anime shows like Hatsune Miku and SpongeBob SquarePants. All of them are accessible through the Mi Fit app.

    • 6 New Sport Modes

The Mi Band’s capacity to capture activities has also been enhanced by Xiaomi. With the addition of the existing treadmill, exercise, outdoor running, cycling, walking, and pool swimming modes, it now supports 11 different sport modes.

Indoor cycling, rowing machine, elliptical machine, skipping rope, and yoga are the six new sport modes Mi Band 5 supports. Now that you are in quarantine, you can record your treadmill or skipping rope activities.

    • 24-Hour Sleep Monitoring

24-hour sleep tracking has to be one of my favourite new features of the Mi Band 5. All of Xiaomi’s earlier models of fitness bands just tracked your nighttime sleep; they did not account for your midday power naps. With the Mi Band 5, this has changed because it will now track your REM sleep in addition to your light and deep sleep, as well as all of your intermittent naps.

    • Updated Health Tracking

The PPG heart rate sensor on this fitness tracker, according to Xiaomi, is approximately 50% more accurate than its predecessor. Like before, the Mi Band 5 enables continuous heart rate monitoring, but it also comes with four new health modes.

The Mi Band 5 now shows your Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI) vitality index for the first time. It uses information like gender, age, and heart rate to estimate your level of physical activity. This new fitness tracker also includes breathing exercises and stress monitoring features.

Mi Band 5 now includes women s health features

The Mi Band 5 also includes functions specifically designed for women’s health, such as notifications for ovulation and menstruation cycles. According to Xiaomi, you should update the same frequently to get better outcomes in the future.

    • Magnetic Charger

One of the major annoyances of the Mi Band 4 has been fixed in the Mi Band 5. It introduces a brand-new charging system that does not call for removing the pill from the strap.

You have to take the strap off the Mi Band 4 and set the pill on a cradle. With the addition of a magnetic charger, the Mi Band 5 does away with this problem. Simply clip it to the bottom pogo pins to power up the fitness tracker. The major issue we faced with Mi Band for years has now been resolved.

Additionally, the Mi Band 5 has a 125mAh battery rather than the 135mAh battery on its predecessor, although Xiaomi claims that it still has a 20-day battery life. Given that the new fitness band also has a larger display, I wonder how this is feasible. Strange sorcery?

Mi Band 5 vs Mi Band 4: Specs Comparison

Mi Band 5: A Substantial Upgrade?

Every iteration of the Mi Band that Xiaomi has released over the years has had some significant advancements, and the Mi Band 5 is no exception. For virtually the same price of Rs. 2,000, it not only addresses the majority of the issues with its predecessor but also adds six additional sport modes, advanced health and sleep tracking, and more.

If you set the design aside for a moment, you get a fitness tracker that is more sophisticated and packed with features. It might even surpass the likes of Fitbit Inspire, which is a much more expensive and high-end fitness tracker. Xiaomi will be able to maintain its position as the fitness accessory brand with the most global sales thanks to the Mi Band 5.
