Imagine having a mob in Minecraft that is more powerful than the Ender Dragon and the Wither, only for it to die and dump a sculk block. Feels a little strange, doesn’t it? Yes, things worsen. The creature in question is the Warden from the Minecraft 1.19 release, and it drops a substance called sculk catalyst that can be found and mined in the Deep Dark biome with the help of the silk touch enchantment. Something seems off, don’t you think? Not only that. The Warden spawns in the same position as the gateway to the old city in Minecraft 1.19. At least, such is the community’s perception of the structure. We are here to dispel all the myths and ideas around Minecraft’s old city gateway and the potential inclusion of a new dimension.

Ancient City Portal: New Dimension, New Boss, and Release Date (2022)

The portal-like structure of the ancient city is discussed by our guide in the context of a number of sources and suppositions. While doing so, we also refute any rumours that lack logic or are simply untrue. To read the theories that most interest you, use the table below.

This article, which explores potential concepts that could result in an old city portal, is theoretical.

Is There a Portal in the Ancient City?

Any rumours have not yet been confirmed by the creators.

    Ancient City Center

There are numerous smaller buildings in the old city that spawns in Minecraft’s deep, gloomy biome. While some of the structures are halls, ruined buildings, and gateways, others resemble temples. But the large hollow building that resembles a doorway and a window in the middle of the old city is what draws attention from Minecraft players the most.

Additionally, the window area of this building is composed of reinforced deep slate blocks. You can’t dig for the reinforced deep slate blocks, which are similar to the game’s End portal blocks. It takes more than 80 seconds to destroy the block, making it 10 times more powerful than the game’s strongest block, obsidian. Obsidian, following the pattern, is a portal block that you can use to construct the Nether portal in Minecraft. Whether a portal exists or not, these characteristics unmistakably indicate a wider application for reinforced deep slate stones.

The first beta release that included Ancient cities was the Minecraft snapshot 22W13A. It’s interesting to note that the ancient city in that photo also included a scaled-down facsimile of the main building. It was a much smaller version of this edifice, but it was an exact reproduction.

    Music Disc 5: Mysterious Sounds!?

The most puzzling aspect of this release was that the structure’s official name in the game was “little portal statue,” implying that the larger construction is some sort of gateway. However, before you start looking for evidence of this in the official 1.19 version, you should know that the name of this structure was altered in later snapshots.

In-game sounds or popular music make up the majority of Minecraft music CDs. But the new music disc 5 that was included in the 1.19 update to Minecraft is a little different. Static can be heard at the start. Then, in fast succession, you can hear someone walking, blocks being shattered, the Warden, and susurrating. A loud metallic click that resembles the flint and steel used to light the Nether portal in Minecraft follows these initial noises.

Squealing, mechanical footsteps, and a fading musical melody can then be heard. After that, things appear to quiet down as soothing music plays in your ears, but it ends abruptly and is immediately followed by a number of ominous sounds, starting with heavy footfall and progressing to monstrous screams before the disc ends. The 12th and 13th seconds of the audio sample contain the disc’s creepiest sounds. What you hear sounds like flint and steel starting a fire, probably the soul fire; see below for more information; this is followed by the opening of a Minecraft portal (possibly the Ancient City one). But until the creators divulge the plot or idea behind this disc, mystery will rule.

    Warden Mob is a Guard

According to some theories, this music CD sounds more like an entryway leading a gigantic boss into our world than it does like a portal to another realm. I certainly don’t want to find out what could possibly come out of the portal after viewing its side.

In its literal sense, the word “warden” refers to a guard or guardian. Therefore, it would make sense that the Ancient City’s newly added mob Warden is there to defend something. Fair enough, the treasure in the ancient city is incredible. The Warden is nonetheless more powerful than any in-game boss mobs, despite not being one. For the kind of loot you find in these cities, such power isn’t justified.

Additionally, as was already established, the Warden only drops Sculk Catalyst, one of the several varieties of Sculk blocks in Minecraft 1.19, if you defeat him. However, the silk touch enchantment makes it simple to acquire the sculk blocks. So yeah, killing the Warden ultimately seems pointless.

    The Aether Dimension

However, the Warden’s existence would undoubtedly fit better within the game if it ever drops something intriguing like a portal opener.

At Mojang, a well-known Minecraft Gameplay Developer by the name of Kingbdoz, Brandon Pearce, works. However, he was the face of the well-known Aether mod before he joined their squad in 2020. This mod gave the game a fresh dimension. And it got so well-known that players began attempting to add Aether portals to even the basic game, believing it to be a legitimate feature.

Will We Get a New Dimension in Minecraft 1.20 Update?

A dimension might therefore be in the works and would make the most sense if the developer intends to employ Pearce’s expertise in mod development. However, it’s important to note that he hasn’t mentioned anything regarding the most recent update. But he continues to send forth enigmatic tweets.

The last time the creator of Minecraft discussed adding a new dimension, they stated that they would first work to improve the game’s current biomes and dimensions. We don’t believe that the possibilities of a new dimension with the Minecraft 1.20 update are very strong, especially since redesigned biomes have finally made their way into the game. But if you want to learn out about other rumoured features that might actually make it into the game, utilise our linked page.

Is Minecraft Getting a New Dimension?

However, after the biome redesigns are finished, the only thing that would make sense is to give the game a new dimension. It will enable creators to add entirely new gameplay elements to Minecraft, such as the ability to fly using Elytra from the End dimension. And if we’re lucky, the next update will appear in the Minecraft 1.21 or 1.22 release somewhere in the following year.
