The OnePlus Connect App is OnePlus TV’s Best Feature

We had been anxiously awaiting the release of the OnePlus TV for some months. Today marks the official launch of the OnePlus TV Q1 series, offering consumers a high-end viewing experience. It has a 55-inch QLED display, as many as 8 speakers, Android TV running Android 9 Pie, and a gorgeous design. All of this sounds very interesting, but the OnePlus Connect companion software is what really makes the OnePlus TV stand out.

When contrasted to the plethora of other smart TVs available, OnePlus Connect can be thought of as the OnePlus TV’s superpower. Some of the more irksome problems with Android TV are resolved by this app, which essentially transforms your phone into a TV remote.

You have the ability to swiftly switch between apps, type on the TV screen with your phones, freely move around the UI, and much more. So, without further ado, here are some of OnePlus Connect’s greatest features:

    Best Features of OnePlus Connect

    • Content Suggestions

You don’t need to worry if you don’t want to wade through the Oxygen Play library because OnePlus has made content recommendations prominently displayed on the Connect app’s home page. Swiping through the suggestions and then tapping the cast symbol will allow you to start playing your selection on your OnePlus TV.

    • TypeSync

This is perhaps the nicest feature of OnePlus Connect, and I commend OnePlus for finding a fix for the most annoying Android TV typing issue. If you’ve ever used a smart TV powered by Android TV, you are aware of the challenges involved in using the remote to type text and do content searches. It can be, to put it mildly, irritating at times.

Since TypeSync enables you to enter words onto OnePlus TV using your smartphone, it is the perfect solution to this issue. Yes, you can easily type in text and conduct searches using Gboard or any other keyboard programme you regularly use. This function is fantastic and it really works.

    • Quick App Switching

With OnePlus Connect, you can switch between apps immediately without having to pick up the remote, go inside, find the desired app, and then tap the OK button. You’ll discover a shortcut to the whole list of apps on your OnePlus TV inside the app that allows you to move between apps quickly.

Since we spend the most of the day holding our phones, you can now simply tap the app you want to launch on the smart TV to watch it launch. awesome, no?

    • Smart Volume Control

Before OnePlus introduced it, no one would have guessed that we required this feature on smart TVs. Despite using a few smart TVs, I had no idea how useful a smart volume control feature would be.

OnePlus Connect and OnePlus TV are connected, so if you receive a call on your phone, the software recognises the call and immediately reduces the TV level. Once the call is over, the volume is increased once more to the prior setting. Picture from Twitter/Pete Lau

Just genius, this feature. And once more, you didn’t even have to hastily look for the remote control or ask your friend to turn down the music when you get a call. With OnePlus Connect, everything is just so much simpler.

    • Screenshots

By providing a shortcut to this feature on the home screen, the app also makes taking screenshots on OnePlus TV much simpler. You can easily hit the camera symbol in the upper right corner at any moment to record whatever is being broadcast on the TV.

The OnePlus TV frame is added to the screenshot by the Connect app to make it more visually appealing, but you may disable this feature from the Settings menu. From within the app, you can then simply share it with your friends.

    • Other Features

Even more useful features are included in the Connect app, including easy Wi-Fi sharing from your OnePlus smartphone for setting up the smart TV (you could use your mobile data to get started), trackpad control for navigating the OnePlus TV’s user interface with quick swipes, and Bluetooth Stereo for using the TV as a soundbar when you aren’t watching anything.

Elevate Your OnePlus TV Experience with Connect

Without the Connect companion app, OnePlus TV would have been simply another smart TV with a high-end design and viewing experience. Since it puts all the essential features you need to use the smart TV on your smartphone, the Connect can effectively replace the OnePlus TV’s stylish and elegant remote.

What more do you need, really, when you can now navigate between apps and watch movies and TV shows directly on your smartphone? Comment below with your thoughts on the OnePlus TV and Connect companion app.
