I found the OnePlus Ambient Display on my 7T to have rather limited functionality after switching from a smartphone with a dedicated notification LED. Enter AOD DoubleTap Mod, a software that provides some additional capabilities to fully utilise the Ambient Display on your OnePlus phone.
The software includes two functions in plenty. To reach the lock screen and notification reminders, double tap on the ambient display. The best thing is that the software relies on accessibility settings and doesn’t need root access to accomplish this.
One of the biggest annoyances I had with my OnePlus 7T was resolved by the AOD DoubleTap Mod. You are unable to exit the Ambient Display and access the lock screen by default on the OnePlus device. Users were compelled to click the power button in order to reach the lock screen because it just doesn’t respond to taps or double taps. I was able to access the lock screen with a double-tap on the Ambient Display thanks to AOD DoubleTap Mod.
You can establish time intervals to be informed of your pending notifications with the help of the notification reminders capability. By selecting the notification categories you want to be reminded of, you may customise this tool.
As I mentioned previously, in order to make these capabilities available, the app needs notification access and accessibility permissions. When you instal and launch the programme, you will be asked to approve the aforementioned permissions. You may view the source code of the app from here if you’re curious in how it functions behind the scenes.
The software should function on every OnePlus device released after the OnePlus 6 according to the developer. The app runs flawlessly on the OnePlus 7T, which I used to test it out myself. Other smartphones with AMOLED panels might also be compatible.
