For some time now, Telegram has been developing a premium subscription service to monetise the site. The encrypted messaging service has officially revealed its intentions to introduce a subscription service after months of speculation. We’ve covered all the new features coming to Telegram Premium in this article, along with the cost of the subscription service.
Telegram Premium Subscription: Explained (2022)
Telegram announced the launch of Telegram Premium at the time this article was being written. The messaging juggernaut has not yet begun distributing its premium subscription, though. Additionally, the newest beta of TelegramPremium features some live functionality. By the end of the month, Telegram could start the subscription. After that, let’s jump right into the specifics.
Telegram Premium: Features
Four GB Upload Size
Increasing the file upload size is the first benefit of Telegram Premium. In the future, Telegram Premium users will be able to upload files up to 4GB in size. The upload size for non-premium users will remain 2GB, a feature that just made its way to WhatsApp as well. This function may appeal to you if you frequently share large files with friends and peers.
Faster Download Speeds
Next, Telegram claims to be accelerating all subscriber download speeds. Notably, there are no speed restrictions for premium customers when downloading media and documents. Telegram downloads will have a maximum speed cap for regular users. It should go without saying that if you’re a Premium user, you’ll need a fast internet connection to take advantage of the speed advantages.
Voice-to-Text Conversion
One of my favourite Telegram Premium features is voice-to-text conversion. The tool creates transcripts for audio communications you give and receive, as the name implies. When you don’t have your earbuds close by to listen to audio messages your friends send you, this should come in handy.
Although the correctness of the transcript depends on a number of variables, including the accent, it appears to be a good alternative for users. Once the subscription is active, we will test how it functions and the correctness of the transcription.
No Ads
Telegram announced its ambitions to roll out sponsored messages in November of last year. The business also announced plans to introduce a low-cost subscription service to remove adverts at the time. That is, in fact, finally coming to pass. There are no advertisements in the public channels for Telegram Premium subscribers.
Premium Stickers
Added to Telegram Premium recently are unique stickers. These stickers will have more effects than the ones that are now accessible. Additionally, Telegram guarantees monthly sticker updates.
Advanced Chat Management
The new sophisticated conversation management features would be useful for those who are active on several channels. Users of Telegram Premium can choose to automatically archive chats, choose a default chat folder, and even conceal incoming messages from users who aren’t in their contacts list.
Profile Badge
Telegram is introducing subscriber profile badges, taking a cue from Signal’s strategy.
Animated Profile Photos
All users will be able to see the star icon badge that premium customers receive next to their names in the conversation window.
Premium App Icon
The option to set animated profile images, which is now a service that is available to everyone for free, is moving behind a paywall. In case you’re not aware, Telegram allows you to create video avatars to help you communicate more effectively on the app.
Unique Reactions
With the Telegram Premium subscription, there is also the possibility to set new app icons, which is another purely cosmetic modification. You will receive at least three new icons, with likely more alternatives on the way soon. Users who want to customise their phone without relying on onicon packs should find this useful.
Increased Limits
In December, Telegram introduced message reactions. There are currently 16 message reactions available. In addition to those replies, Telegram will give Premium subscribers access to exclusive animated reactions on messages. If you want to stand out from the crowd, here is a simple method to do so. Since then, WhatsApp has also joined on board and made message reactions available to all users.
Telegram Premium: Price and Release Date
Additionally, premium customers will have twice the limits as free users. Users can store up to 400 GIFs and 200 stickers, join up to 1000 channels, pin 10 chats, reserve 10 public username links, and utilise 140 characters in the bios link. In addition, members will have access to 20 folders, be able to aggregate up to 10 chats in each folder, and add up to 4 associated accounts with various phone numbers. Longer captions with up to 4096 characters will also be available to subscribers.
According to the most recent beta, Telegram Premium costs $4.99 per month. Even while we don’t currently know the precise Telegram Premium price in India, that corresponds to around Rs. 388 in our country. However, we could anticipate it to cost a little less than that, ideally about Rs. 250 each month.
Telegram Turns to Subscription for Monetization
Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, has confirmed that Telegram Premium will be available later this month.
