India required social media businesses to file a monthly user safety report after the new Government IT Rules 2021 went into effect last year. Since then, millions of accounts in India have been banned from WhatsApp due to different malicious activities like frauds and harassment. The messaging juggernaut owned by Meta claimed in its most recent report that it had blocked more over 1.8 million users in India as of March 2022. View the information here.
More WhatsApp Accounts Banned in India
Over 1.8 million accounts in India were banned by WhatsApp throughout the entire month of March of this year, according to the most recent User Safety Monthly Report. This follows the social messaging juggernaut’s February 2022 decision to block more than 1.4 million accounts.
For accounts that do not adhere to its laws and procedures, the Meta-owned corporation has taken stern action. In April 2022, WhatsApp reportedly got 597 complaints from users. Of those, the corporation in March banned 74 of the reported accounts.
Our report for the month of March 2022 has been published in compliance with the IT Rules 2021. This user safety report includes information on user complaints received and WhatsApp’s response to them, as well as WhatsApp’s own proactive measures to stop abuse on our platform. According to the most recent Monthly Report, WhatsApp banned over 1.8 million accounts in the month of March, according to a statement from a WhatsApp spokeswoman.
Whatsapp uses a variety of AI-backed technologies in addition to user reports to identify questionable accounts, including bot accounts, accounts linked to scams, accounts that propagate fake news, and so forth. According to the business, it has made investments in more cutting-edge technology, data scientists, specialists, and procedures to guarantee user safety on its platform.
Therefore, if you use WhatsApp, make sure to maintain your app updated and refrain from sharing scam or false information on the app to avoid having your account deleted. Although a method of asking users for an account ban review has apparently been tested by WhatsApp, it is not yet available on the service. On the other side, you can report the account in the app if you notice any strange accounts in your chat or someone spreading false information.
