WhatsApp Beta Now Lets You Create Group Icons with Emojis and Stickers

Today, WhatsApp beta version 2.21.23.15 for Android was released by the company’s developers after beta version 2.21.23.14 with the option to hide last seen from particular people was released yesterday. The update also includes a new feature that lets users use emojis and stickers as WhatsApp group profile pictures, as first noted by tipster WABetaInfo.

Set Emojis and Stickers as Group Icon on WhatsApp

You can tap the pencil icon in the group icon screen to access the new Emojis & stickers option if you are using WhatsApp beta 2.21.23.15 or later. As shown in the image below, it is present between the current Gallery and Search web options:

A total of 11 pastel hues have been added by WhatsApp for the background of the emoji or sticker you will be using, and you can then swap between emojis and stickers from the bottom bar. The colour picker is located underneath the preview of the profile photo, and you can choose one of the available colours from there.

You will receive a static preview if you decide to utilise animated stickers on WhatsApp because it doesn’t allow animated profile images. While the results for stickers are satisfactory, when using emojis they appear a little pixelated.

Emojis and stickers can only currently be used in WhatsApp groups as the profile image. As a result, you cannot utilise this to set your own WhatsApp profile image directly. However, if you absolutely need it, you can opt to set an emoji or sticker profile photo to a group, save it to your gallery, and then use that picture as your profile picture.

We will have to wait till WhatsApp adds this function to the stable version of the app, as is the case with all beta features. Do you anticipate using this function in your WhatsApp groups? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment.
