Recently, WhatsApp acquired new privacy options, such as Screenshot Blocking for messages that vanish. Soon later, the feature was added to WhatsApp beta for iOS, and it is now also available in Android beta.
WhatsApp Screenshot Blocking in Beta
According to a recent report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is trying Screenshot Blocking as part of the beta version of its Android app. For those who are unaware, the function prevents users from taking screenshots of vanished pictures and videos.
The new privacy feature won’t allow users to share, forward, store, or copy the View Once communications, according to a shared screenshot of the box that will appear for those messages. When it becomes official, anyone attempting to capture a screenshot of it will have their attempt disallowed. The sender won’t, however, be informed of the same. Check out the pop-up.
This is a welcome adjustment because it protects privacy and upholds the nature of View Once Once media, which is to vanish after viewing. However, since users may still record it from a different device, it won’t completely prevent individuals from preserving the disappearing media!
The Screenshot Blocking tool is currently being tested by WhatsApp and is shortly to be made available to all users. However, the precise timing of this is unknown.
In related news, Android 13 beta users can now utilise customised icons in WhatsApp. Users will be able to see the WhatsApp app icon based on the theme and wallpaper they have selected when the feature is enabled. You can see an example of this below.
When these new improvements will be implemented for stable users is still unknown. When this occurs, we’ll let you know. So, be sure to check back and share your ideas in the section below.
