Over a billion people use WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps, to send and receive texts each month. Version 2.18.13, a substantial beta upgrade, was only just distributed to Android users by the firm.
A plethora of intriguing new features are rumoured to be included in this update, some of which are already available while others are now unavailable to users. The features, which were found by the one and only WABetaInfo, are currently being worked on and should make their debut in next versions very soon. The following is a list of the forthcoming features for WhatsApp:
Stickers Support
Emojis and GIFs may not be sufficient for you to convey your emotions, but lo and behold, WhatsApp will soon add support for Facebook’s sticker packs. By tapping the emojis key in the message box, you can open a tab with all of the stickers displayed in it.
It has been discovered that WhatsApp will automatically include the Unchi and Rollie sticker packs from the social networking site. You also have access to a sticker store, similar to the one that Messenger now offers, where you may download sticker packs of your choice.
Mention Notifications
Has there ever been a time when you had a spotty connection and couldn’t see the messages from your group, but after you got home, they all started to come in? Now, in order to identify a communication in which you were mentioned, you must scroll through hundreds of them. That will quickly become history.
In the most recent beta, WhatsApp has introduced a mention notification function that will show the number of times you’ve been mentioned in a discussion along with a @ symbol in the bottom right corner. One of the most frequently requested features by the WhatsApp community is this one.
Security Improvements
In order to increase platform security, WhatsApp is also striving to implement security notifications. To better secure your messages from being accessed by strangers, WhatsApp will prompt you to install 2FA if you open the security code verification area of the settings menu and the feature is turned off.
Group Improvements
The business has recently given improving group interactions a lot of attention. It is already rumoured to be testing admin privacy tools and group voice/video chats, with the latter being much more important. By permitting group administrators to now demote any other administrators, it has taken the first step in that direction.
Previously, in order to remove an admin from the admin role, you had to first remove them from the group and then add them back. This procedure is no longer necessary, and you can dismiss as admin instead to accomplish the same thing. Now, any WhatsApp user can manage the group’s members.
Spam Control
Additionally, WhatsApp is testing a number of strategies to stop the propagation of spam and false messages on the network, according to a recent report by WhatsAppen. Additionally, this has grown in significance, particularly with the introduction of WhatsApp Business.
While the company already has a Report Spam button for customers who forward spam, it is now attempting to identify communications that have been forwarded repeatedly. According to a recent leak that depicts an iOS device, WhatsApp may soon alert you before you send a message that has already been forwarded too many times. This is how it will appear:
And if you’re about to complain about it in the comments area, no, this doesn’t violate your privacy. End-to-end encryption is used for all WhatsApp messages. The business will most likely track messages using a tracking id of some kind. The specifics of how it intends to deploy this functionality are still being worked out.
As you can easily see from the example above, WhatsApp is expanding its platform with new features that will improve your experience even more. What more features would you like to see added to WhatsApp’s platform? Tell us in the comments section below.
