WhatsApp for Apple Watch? Here are 3 Alternatives

Unfortunately, WhatsApp isn’t one of the fantastic watchOS apps available for the Apple Watch. It makes perfect sense to have a watchOS app for WhatsApp, thus this is really odd. In any case, if you’re disappointed that WhatsApp isn’t compatible with your Apple Watch, this is the ideal time to stop using it. In any case, the new WhatsApp privacy policy is unsettling and overbroad. So, here are three WhatsApp alternatives for Apple Watch that you might want to use.

WhatsApp for Apple Watch Alternatives to Use in 2021

Surprisingly few messaging apps have made the effort to develop an Apple Watch app. That implies that if watchOS support is a must-have for you, your options are constrained. It’s unfortunate that Signal, my preferred new encrypted texting service, doesn’t have a watchOS app. There are some more, though, that you can look into.

We’ll look at WhatsApp alternatives for watchOS in this article. As always, you can jump to any section using the table of contents.

    Table Of Contents

    • Telegram

    • Facebook Messenger

    • Line

    • Bonus: WatchChat 2

    1. Telegram

Telegram is perhaps one of the first applications that come to mind when considering WhatsApp substitutes, and for good reason. The app provides all the functionality that WhatsApp has, plus many more.

Additionally, a full-featured Apple Watch software is available so you may carry on your chats from your wrist. You may view all of your discussions in the Telegram app on watchOS. You are able to interact with your contacts by opening any of them, sending new messages or stickers, etc.

If you’re considering leaving WhatsApp, you should also read our in-depth comparison of WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.

    2. Facebook Messenger

If you frequently use Facebook, you presumably also use Facebook Messenger very frequently (although I have to ask you why!). If not, you can think about using it instead of WhatsApp because it also has an Apple Watch app.

The watchOS app lets you view all of your conversations and lets you start a new message by long-pressing. Other than the obvious privacy problems of utilising Facebook Messenger, this app’s only drawback is that the watchOS app doesn’t display attachments that other users share with you.

Use the App Store to download Facebook Messenger (Free)

    3. Line

Last but not least, you’ll be happy to know that Line messenger also has an Apple Watch app if you have a lot of contacts who use it. Additionally, you get access to all the standard chat capabilities, including support for photos and stickers.

To stay in touch with your contacts on the app, the app also allows you to send emojis and stickers, and you can browse your unread messages with ease. In terms of following you and exploiting your data for advertisements, based on a short review of the LINE privacy policy, I don’t believe that Line is any better than Facebook Messenger, but ultimately, it’s up to you.

Visit the App Store to download Line (Free)

    Bonus: WatchChat 2

It’s not as easy to switch chat apps as merely installing a new one. After all, those apps must be used by your contacts as well. For a sort of workaround to utilising WhatsApp on your Apple Watch, if you don’t want to move from WhatsApp, check out WatchChat 2.

Check out These WhatsApp Alternatives for Apple Watch

There aren’t many messaging apps available for watchOS, as is evident. However, there are at least a few alternatives you might take into account if you’re willing to leave WhatsApp.

I would personally suggest utilising Telegram instead of Signal as it is now unavailable on the Apple Watch. It is highly feature-rich and features an Apple Watch app. If so, you may certainly look into alternative possibilities or just continue utilising the workaround we suggested to use WhatsApp on your watch.
