WhatsApp Group Admins Will Soon be Able to Delete Messages on Others’ Behalf

To improve the overall user experience, WhatsApp is spotted testing a lot of features. The newest function, which will soon be available on the well-known messaging service, may be useful for organising WhatsApp group chats. The most recent beta of WhatsApp for Android features a feature that grants group managers authority over message deletion, albeit it is buried.

WhatsApp Group Admins to Have More Power

WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android beta version 2.22.1.1, according to WaBetaInfo. Using this functionality, group administrators will be able to delete communications from any member of the group. This implies that, if necessary, the administrator of any WhatsApp group may erase any communication.

In order for other group members to know who deleted a message, WhatsApp will leave a notification that reads, “This was removed by an admin.”

This feature will be in addition to a variety of tasks that are exclusively available to group administrators. This includes the ability to add or remove group members, choose who can send group messages, edit group information, edit group admin information, and more. There is currently no information available regarding when this feature will be available to all users on iOS and Android.

For those who are unaware, there are also rumours that WhatsApp may soon add an extended timeline for deleted messages. Users will be able to do this to remove all transmitted messages even after 7 days and 8 minutes. Right now, it’s 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds. It was previously believed that WhatsApp would eliminate all limitations on message deletion, but it appears that is no longer the intention.

Furthermore, WhatsApp is now testing a new privacy feature that would prevent strangers from viewing users’ Last Seen or Status Updates. The Last Seen and Status settings will be automatically changed to My Contacts to accomplish this. Additionally, this will prevent third-party apps from monitoring user activity.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming WhatsApp features? Should administrators be able to regulate group messaging in this manner? Post your ideas in the comments section below.
