Due to the widespread indoor confinement caused by the coronavirus outbreak, streaming services have temporarily decreased video quality as a way to lessen network load. WhatsApp, a messaging service owned by Facebook, is the most recent programme to respond to the issue. In India, WhatsApp has recently cut the length of videos from 30 to 15 seconds.
You can only upload videos of up to 15 seconds in length using the programme, WABetaInfo noted over the weekend on Twitter.
Only videos with a runtime of 15 seconds or less will be permitted to be sent to WhatsApp Status; videos longer than 16 seconds will no longer be supported. This is taking place in India, and it’s most likely a move to lessen traffic on the server infrastructures.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t update your app because the 15-second status limit was implemented through a server-side change. You’ll notice a toast notification that says Videos sent to My Status will only be the first 15 seconds long. in the status upload screen, as the picture below shows.
However, WABetaInfo notes that this is only a temporary change that will be undone once things have calmed down.
