A few new features that are being tested by WhatsApp are aimed at enhancing user privacy even more. According to information discovered by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned messaging network may soon add options for login approval and phone number sharing. Here is a brief overview of these features.
New WhatsApp Features in Testing
According to a recent revelation from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp intends to incorporate login permissions. This extra security measure will be useful if someone tries to access your WhatsApp account from another device after receiving the wrong 6-digit PIN.
Whatsapp will now notify the user of a login attempt from another device via an in-app notification. You can quickly decline the request and stop someone from using your WhatsApp account inappropriately if that wasn’t your fault.
The double verification code, which is also now being tested, will be added to this. In the event that a login attempt is made from a different device, it will display a new verification code. However, you should be aware that both of these features are still in the works, and there is currently no indication of when they will be available to users. You can still view a preview of the login approval notification.
WhatsApp is also testing a feature that hides your phone number from some WhatsApp groups and the recently added Communities.
Your number won’t be shown because this is disabled by default, making it simpler for you to retain your anonymity when you belong to an ambiguous group or sub-group. If you want to share the number, it will be available under the group settings and can be enabled. Look at it down below.
Furthermore, according to another WABetaInfo leak, WhatsApp has begun distributing emoji reactions for disappearing Status to certain beta users. Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, Folded Hands, Clapping Hands, Party Popper, and Hundred Points are just a few of the eight emojis that will be available during the test.
When Status emoji reactions and the aforementioned privacy options become available to the broader public is still to be determined. As soon as we have additional information, we will share it with you. So, be sure to check back here and let us know what you think in the comments section.
