WhatsApp, a massive messaging service owned by Meta, has been developing on a number of new features for its apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. Currently, the company is testing new drawing capabilities on its Android app and a new dark-theme colour for chat bubbles on its desktop client, according to recent sources.
New WhatsApp Features for Android and Desktop
According to a recent revelation by reputable WhatsApp source WABetaInfo, the messaging giant is developing two new pencil tools for its image and video editor, starting with the new drawing capabilities. Users will be able to select the thickness of their drawings using the new pencil tools. A screenshot of the feature’s early preview is provided below.
The pencil tool in the image/video editor on WhatsApp for Android now has two more possibilities, as seen in the image. The function is presently being developed and was discovered in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android (v2.22.3.5). According to reports, it will be released alongside an upcoming Android upgrade.
The following function is for WhatsApp on Windows and Mac. According to WABetaInfo, the business has started distributing a new update (v2.2201.2.0) for its desktop client, which has the same build number as the WhatsApp UWP beta version. The chat bubbles have a new tint when running the app with a dark theme. Here, you can immediately perceive the variation in colour:
The new conversation bubbles feature a darker shade of green than the former chat bubbles, as seen in the comparison image above. This is consistent with the modifications the business previously released for WhatsApp beta on Android and iOS.
These are some of the new features that WhatsApp will be receiving in the upcoming weeks. Keep checking back for further updates after the public begins to use these features.
