WhatsApp to Soon Show Preview of Links Shared as Status

Following the rumoured ability to respond to Status with emoji reactions and Status updates in the chat list, WhatsApp is preparing a new update for its Status function. You will see rich previews of links published as text statuses with the new, rumoured feature. Here is an example of how this will seem.

New Changes for WhatsApp Status Coming Soon

Rich Link Preview for text Statuses is a feature that WhatsApp is currently working on, according to a recent report from WABetaInfo. This basically implies that users will be able to view a preview of the link with more details while sharing it as a WhatsApp Status, similar to how they can view a link when it is shared in a message.

Any link posted as a Status will currently only appear as a link and a preview will only appear when a link is clicked. Here is a comparison of the current situation and potential developments in the near future.

The screenshot purports to show an iOS version of a WhatsApp Status update, although it is anticipated that both Android and desktop users will receive it. You should be aware that it is still being developed and will eventually be made available to WhatsApp beta testers. When it will be accessible to the broader public is unknown.

As previously mentioned, WhatsApp is also anticipated to add the option to use emojis to respond to Status updates, similar to how Instagram has just added message reactions. The capability to display Status updates in chat lists or when a person is searched will be another feature that will be lifted directly from Instagram. A green ring will be visible around the person’s DP to indicate this. A new Status can only currently be viewed from the app’s specific area.

The messaging software owned by Meta may also soon feature sophisticated search filter options for Android, iOS, and desktop. The general public will soon be able to easily search for unread chats, contacts, non-contacts, and groups thanks to a functionality that is already accessible for business users. This feature is also being worked on, but there’s no information on when it will be available. What do you think about WhatsApp Status’ new rich link previews? Please share your opinions in the section below.
