For iOS beta users, WhatsApp just debuted the global media player, which enables users to listen to voice notes in the background. We have the impression that the feature may soon be accessible to everyone because it is now being made available to desktop users. Here are some specifics.
WhatsApp Desktop Users Has an Updated Voice Note Feature
According to a report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp recently released the new worldwide media player for WhatsApp Desktop beta2.2204.5. Users will be able to use this function to hear a voice note while navigating through another chat.
According to screenshots provided by WABetaInfo, even if a user moves to a different chat while the voice note or audio is still playing, the audio will still be playing and the media player will be positioned at the bottom of the list of chats. The media player will always appear at the top in iOS.
The play/pause button and the progress indicator are the only controls on the global media player. The sender’s profile photo and a close button will both be available as options to stop the audio note from playing.
There is no information on when the function will be made available to the general public; however, it is now available for beta users. You can use it right away if you are a beta tester.
This comes after WhatsApp’s online version was recently discovered testing the ability to pause and resume voice recordings. When these two additions will be included in the stable version is still unknown. There is a good probability that everyone will get access to the global media player via WhatsApp’s upcoming stable version because it is now being tested across a variety of platforms. Once this occurs, we’ll let you know. Stay tuned, then!
