Since the end of last year, WhatsApp has been introducing a number of new features aimed at enhancing groups and communities on its platform. A new user interface and capability for up to 32 users for group calls were added earlier this year by the messaging juggernaut owned by Meta. In addition, we observed the corporation testing a new feature that allows for silent group exits as well as group polling. Furthermore, WhatsApp is now working on a new group-focused feature that will let group administrators personally accept members. Details are provided here!
WhatsApp Tests New Group Membership Approval Feature
The admin approval option for memberships was discovered in the most current WhatsApp Android beta version 2.22.14.6, claims reliable WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo. With this version, WhatsApp has added new gender-neutral emoticons as well as a new Group Membership Approval feature that stops users from joining a WhatsApp group without the group admin’s permission.
The admins of WhatsApp groups can enable or disable this functionality from the group settings page. When activated, a notification will be sent to group members letting them know that the group admin has enabled admin approval for joining the group. The screenshot below provides a sneak peek of the new feature.
Users who receive an invite link to a WhatsApp group after the new feature has been enabled for that group will need manual approval from the group admins. In fact, administrators will receive a brand-new area just for handling user joining requests from the group information page.
The new admin approval feature is still being developed and will be made available with a subsequent update, according to WABetaInfo. Stay tuned for further information, and share your opinions about WhatsApp’s new Group Membership Approval feature in the comments section below.
